That cartoon is funny and so so true...
anyone who saw bouyant Boris bounce into Brum will be bowled over at his brash populist ebullience. The televison crews tripped over each other and stood on each others toes in the huge media scrum..the photographers shuffled aggressively this way and that in the melee..all trying to get the shot that mattered, the one to make the frontpage of the Daily Mail. In the midst of it all a hounded Boris suddenly made a dash for the side exit in true pop star of old mode. Elvis had side-exited the building..for the moment!

But Boris wasnt gone long..his fans awaited and of course he loves the fans and the limelight. He gave television interviews to every programme all day long..here he is on one..his tousled humour both funny and irritating at the same time as he avoids all questions with a gleeful exuberance. The interviewers cant pin him down...

Has this ever happened before? Tony Blair was popular in the 'things can only get better' era..but it was in a different way. Boris trancends all trends, trancends all barriers..people from all parties like him. He fills some with horror but in an age where everybody seems to hate politicians he somehow rises above it.

I used to laugh once at the mention of Boris becoming PM but it isnt a joke anymore. He will have to wait until David Cameron falls from grace but once that happens..he will be in there..the bandwagon has powered forward with an unstoppable momentum. When asked about his rise to the very top Boris laughs with gay abandon and says..." I am very supportive of this government and the job they are doing"..but with a glint in his eye.

People have noticed his weight gain..hmmm, a suspension in the calorfic intake is needed, less beef Boris less beef, as one never remembers a fat man in Downing st..so the pundits point out.
