15:5377260 I visited the bookshop at the townhall traffic lights this morning, I always forget it`s there, but such a large array of books and a very pleasant lady to talk to regarding Dover and it`s present state. I bought several books in there this morning with previous unseen picture`s of Dover in there, (for me anyway). We do have the Sussex Bookshop and of course WHS in town, but the two combined nowhere equal the amount of books in this shop, and many at half the published price. The above picture`s came from one of the books I bought this morning, covering the whole of Kent in picture`s. There seem to be so many picture`s of Dover sea front on here now, my apologies if these have been placed on here on another thread.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

16:1277268 The bottom picture is the right hand side of the top one. Too big to get under scanner in one go. Taken in 1890.

16:5177271That is one of my favourite bookstores, I love a rummage in there. Even the smell of the old books pleases me - love it!

19:5377312 A couple for our Deal members from the same book. Top view dates from 1899, and taken from the pier towards the town. Bottom dates from 1906, and shows the bandstand area complete with band. Is this the original pier that got washed away? BERN, they do indeed smell lovely.

19:5577314i was thinking that, the pier seems to be about halfway between the prince of wales pier and the eastern docks.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

18:5777472That`s good to hear Jan.There`s a couple of other books in there I was interested in the other day, so will be back in there next week for a longer look. The two I got were pictorial`s, but I need something to read as I`ve nearly finished my current book.
