  was a moving story, both done a great job for their country.
  
  springer spaniels seem to be used a lot by customs as well nowadays, i had one of those but she was much more of a bum sniffer.

  I cried reading it. Yes I have seen springer spaniels used more now.
  
  On a slightly different track, we had to have our beloved 18-year-old dog Sheba put to sleep last week as she had severe arthritis and was nearly blind. It was like losing a member of the family.

  jeane,i did see the report on the itv news at ten last night.
  i then thought how nice that is,master and dog brought home together.

  Jeanne, I am so sorry about your dog. I know it will have been the right thing to do, but that doesn't make it feel any better. I remember being in a similar place three years ago - we had the dog put to sleep and my Dad died 3 weeks later. I know those two things don't belong in the same sentence, but it was a really dark time. My thoughts are with you.

  Thanks Bern, I know it was the right thing to do but it doesn't make it any easier. It would have been selfish of us not to have her put to sleep when we did.

  I bawled my eyes out as I was reading it this morning in the shop, a customer actually came into see if i was ok and we both ended up bawling..
  
  its just soo sad..but what a sweet thing to have them together.
