Earlier today a bomb was dredged up in the harbour, presumably World War II. It was found over near the sandpit area on the western wing. The Bomb Squad were called, the area was cordoned off, and after some time they did the necessary and blew the thing up about 2.30 today. There was a bit of a bang as you can imagine.
By an odd co-incidence there is a German cruise liner in today, a small one called the Princess Daphne, which was just a couple of hundred yards away. But all was safely and swiftly taken care of...and any suggestion about giving it back to the Germans was quickly shelved.
