Plus hotels, restaurants, art galleries, a visitor centre and music studios all destined for The Citadel at the Western Heights.

Awaiting suggestion from DDC for chairlift now to go to Western Heights rather than Castle!

as Karlos says cloud cuckoo land
Seriously how would a train from Fannet to Bournemouth pay its way, demand must be minimal
As for the Citadel proposals, it suffers from the same issues all plans for the Western Heights struggle with namely 2 of the worst roads in Dover as access. God help the poor burghers of Aycliffe if it gets the go ahead; though I doubt the owners will be able to raise the necessary finance.

Wasn’t there a plan for an amphitheatre and memorial to Dame Vera Lynn? As I recall they couldn’t raise the funds for that either. Nonsensical ideas.

Aycliffe the forgotten estate by DDC.. I live at Aycliffe and have been one of those fighting to close the 24/7 lorry park. I have nothing against lorry parks but that road is totally unsuitable for lorries. Imagine the extra traffic created by the conversion of the citadel. It would be an accident waiting to happen.
I have already on a couple of occasions faced lorries coming around the corners on the wrong side of the white lines and pushing me towards the barriers…
The road has also been closed a couple of times due to stuck lorries.
It is our only way out when Snargate street is jammed.

Until they sort out the problems of Aycliffe they should forget any other plans
