At least the chaos will be for a good reason this time, they have my support. Lets hope the French authorities get the message.

Manston airport on stand by but I don't see many truckers going there willingly.

I fail to understand why the lorry drivers, dispersed across the UK, happily parked up outside the Happy Eater Scunthorpe or such, with radio in the cab and mobile phone in hand, should drive down to Kent to clog up the roads between Dover and Manston, while they wait for the blockade to be lifted.

It's getting stupidly dangerous for drivers now in Calais so I can hardly blame them when the drivers being threatened with Machetes, knives having trees felled on the road to stop them etc.
Bolougne has a fully functioning unused port that had Multi-million pounds worth of redevelopment when LD Lines was running out of there! Dieppe has a port what ever happened to running to Zeebrugge? So there is plenty of safer alternatives sitting there just simply being not utilised.

Not quite as simple as that as most French ports couldn't take the "Spirit" ferries. A few years back during a dispute the "Spirit of France" took a chance on Boulogne it eventually berthed in perfect weather conditions but they wouldn't try it again. Dieppe and Zeebrugge are not where most hauliers want to go to with the extra costs and journey times.

True Howard but the other smaller ships will be able to use them I'd imagine

I can't imagine P & O agreeing to use different destinations for different ships, the system would be chaotic with trucks having to be split into different areas rather than the present "first come, first served" system.
Let's not forget that the criminal gangs would simply upsticks to any other port in order to keep their business going.

Indeed they will but need to look at the positive of that with multiple locations under use they will be spread more thinly which means less danger all around to all motorists due to a lower concentration of attacks in one particular area. I think with an unprecedented amount of negativity and attacks in Calais that P&O should reconsider as not only is it impacting Calais it's impacting P&O as they are seen as the Main Cross Channel Operator

I don't think that's fair to say 'so called' Brian I believe a lot of people they want to come here because of family members already residing here for example my mum is a foster carer and has taken in two children who are refugees and one of them came here because he uncle already lives here and runs a very successful business just UK Immigration didn't believe him and it took 4 months to be reunited with his Uncle. I think there is people abusing the situation but I think it's unfair to say they are all being dishonest about their intentions.

I can't find anything in the news about the blockade, sounds like it must have been called off.
