In the last year we have all followed stories from China and South America about the "safety" of mines. Re-opening or starting new mines of the sort Vic is dreaming of would cost billions, billions that are not available at this time nor for the foreseeable future. Back in reality nobody is investing in expensive start-ups, even the water companies are increasing prices to reduce usage rather than developing new sources. Coal mining in this country is as good as over and you would have more luck daydreaming about the restoration of Beeching's lost branch lines.
Our past, our history is a lesson and a road map for our future not a dream destination. Coal, like the dream of sorting all the countries problems by saving on the Euroclub subscription, is a non starter.
