  many will be aware of the literary classic penned by the writer sebastian faulks better known for being a west ham supporter.
  
  for the first time it has been adapted for the screen and is being shown on bbc 4 over two episodes, the first tonight at 9 p.m.
  
  quite looking forward to it i trust the beeb not to make a hash of it.
