    More from Peter Sherred.

A beautiful day in Dover today and well done to members of Tower Hamlets Forum for getting stuck in to a rubbish clearance in the Northbourne Avenue area and Tower Hill area of Dover. Each picture has a narrative to explain what and who. Good for the community is the presence of a couple of Town Councillors setting a fine example as was Paul Pearson with his wife Augusta. Paul regularly tackles Barton Path area of the town along with Branch Street and Bridge Street. Good on you, sir, for such a fine community example.

That is all excellent news to make us proud of our town and delighted for Dover. But there is another side to the coin as the sequence of pictures showing rubbish dumped on Network Rail land explains. Clearly in some cases people are filling sacks with their rubbish and tossing them onto the railway operator’s land which is unacceptable and disgraceful behaviour which brings the town into disrepute. This is not Network Rail’s doing or fault it is the town’s unacceptable behaviour.

The good news is I am meeting representatives of Network Rail this next week to show them the state of their estate and to encourage a thorough clearing up of rubbish to improve the quality of our amenities but they shouldn’t have to do this as a result of Dovorians’ thoughtless actions. Well done Tower Hamlets Forum members and all those out litter picking today for you restore faith in people and help keep Dover a town in which to take pride and have a delight in. GO TEAM DOVER!
