    Jan, my initial recollection was around £30.000. Part was power & maintenance but by far the biggest cost was marshalling big events being screened & the requirements of police & fire without adding health &safety issues to meet insurance terms.

    That was the financial cost without the renewal of planning permission, local resistance from residents , influential other groups & the lack of supply of spare parts because the manufacturer had ceased production.

    It is amazing the number of people who said they supported its retention after the decision was taken to remove it.
