  I have a sneaking suspicion that the screen was "given" to us in the full knowledge that the technology was nearly old hat (and thus cheap) and that it would soon be life expired.
  
  Personally I liked it, had it been repairable we should have kept it and used local programming on it. Although as usual with these things the costs would probably have outweighed the benefits.
