  talking of volunteers i bumped into ted smith in town this afternoon, hobbling away with his stick but still putting the rest of us to shame with the extent of his volunteer work. now that the south foreland lighthouse has closed for the winter he is devoting his energy to the transport museum. i believe they have a very interesting project at the drawing board stage.
