details are as follows:
A fire in a disused care home in London Road, Dover, is being fought by eight pumps from Kent Fire and Rescue Service tonight.
The call to the detached, three floor property came at 6.30pm on Sunday evening.
Nick James, KFRS Group Manager, said:
"The fire quickly spread to all floors of the building, causing the roof to collapse. We have been fighting the fire using height vehicles and ladders and, though the fire is now under control, we are continuing to deal with hot spots.
"As there is a danger that the inside of the building may be unstable, we are waiting for colleagues from building control to confirm its stability before we enter the property. Water from a nearby lake has been used and so some neighbouring roads have had to be closed because of the hoses.
"Crews have done a good job tonight and managed to prevent the fire spreading to nearby properties."
Crews from Dover, Folkestone, Whitfield, Aylesham, Eastry, Deal, New Romney and Wingham attended the fire, alongside height vehicles from Ashford and Thanet and Faversham's water management unit.
