Certainly Big Brother government has had its hand on many things quietly lately, or so it appears. I think they have been nobbling the food industry for quite a while even prior to some of the headlines. I havent read all the feature linked above as its a large one but I note that Richmond Sausages get a mention. I have them in the fridge as we speak, an old favourite, so favourite I even entered them in the David Hannent Sausage Contest last year, held during his and Linda's garden party.
They did well too, for a mass produced sausage...I put them in as they claim an Irish Recipe. That was my excuse. Of course as we see in the feature they are packed with salt. Basically the taste I suggest comes from all the salt, and the rest of the seasoning. Without all that... the taste goes out the window.
You need look no further than any of those cooking programmes on TV and the know- it- all chefs all tell the contestants, there's not enough seasoning, there s not enough seasoning over and over again.
Everyone at home then goes out and adds more seasoning to their food so the messages coming through are mixed.
But the governments nobbling has even reached the humble pot noodle...some sacrilege that, interfering with the original food of bachelerdom the globe over. A good pot noodle and Barcelona v Real Madrid on the TV, who could ask for more than that. 'Cept now they've buggered up the pot noodle by removing all our unhealthy but tasty ingredients.
Seriously though even the Marks and Spencer range has been quietly altered. Some flavours have changed...even though often claims are made to the contrary.
