  This guy presumably had a near miss. There he was standing there waiting on number 47 or whatever and with a great splintering crack this lot came down on top of him, or nearly. He had to go and have a sit down after that shock...gadzooks! But no injuries, fortunately. You can just see where this rather huge branch split from the main tree.
  
  The weatherman did warn us that trees would come down in the high winds because they are in full leaf. So beware.

  It was fairly windy here this morning force 5 - 6 which delayed ferries departing and freighters arriving..and a lot cooler than the 22degrees we experienced yesterday.

  The chap was sitting there as is in the top shot and a police car came by. I thought to myself...ah, we're in safe hands now. They saw the tree but they kept on going by. I was a bit amazed. They didnt bother to stop or enquire or move the tree. I guess its not in their remit anymore.

  They probably hadn't got their horticultural emergency certificate
  
  Nice to have a bit of rain today though, very welcome for the garden and farmers as much as we like the sun.

  I have had to pick up four planted troughs that were on my wall and a large tub with a small tree in it.
  
  I am surprised the policeman did not stop maybe they were on their way back to the station at the end of their shift. The branch must be a traffic hazard.
  
  Torrential rain at the moment I can see it bouncing off the car roof, the first proper rain for weeks.

  Gosh going back there PaulB George Dixon but yes that must have been scary for the guy in the picture.
  He was only waiting for the bus got more than he bargined for.
