  First of all I have never called you a political tribalist militant leftie. Your point about tribalism is well made; when it comes to ancestral tribes I'd guess yours and mine are similar, my mums side of the family were all miners, I still have lots of family in Elvington. So from that point of view I will always defend my own.
  
  However with politics its entirely different, a political party has to earn support and respect, there too many people that will blindly follow a blue or red rosette irrespective of what it stands for. Do you honestly believe that Blair, Mandelson etc have any interest in or knowledge of mining communities? On the blue side they vote for a party that supports gay marriage and closer integration with Europe, everything traditional tories are against.
  
  I loathe both parties with equal measure for the way they ride roughshod over the electorate. The main reason people vote blue or red is to stop the others winning, what a shocking state of affairs.
