Hiya Garyc. I think the use of the word 'tribal' is quite apt when people vote for their 'tribe' without really thinking, just because they feel they belong to it. The problem arises when you look at the three main tribes and find that their personnel and ethos are virtually interchangeable, and instead of having a left, a right and a bunch of wishy washies around the centre, you have a shower of ex public school boys who have never lived in the real world, and the old standards of 'socialism' and 'conservatism' have nearly vanished, leaving a bunch of career politicians in power, none of whom have a real political thought in their head. As for the word 'militant', I feel that it has been greatly misused, and should be used as a compliment for people who are willing to take action to stand up for what they believe in, whether left, right or centre. Like Clegg, a true militant who stood up for his principles on University fees...or perhaps not.
