the main payout in benefits is for housing costs which are geared to costs in each area so the savings would be on jobseekers allowance which is so low that little can be saved.
dave is betting on this being a good headline grabber.

I think Dave may be trying to wake up local government.
District councils should be looking where employment is offered, checking whether the laws against discrimination are being respected - which many certainly don't - and asking why so many local people are unemployed.
They can't just keep hiding away from the facts.

definitely not something local government can deal with, they are busy with such things as social housing, street lighting, car parking, street cleaning, waste collection, keeping toilets open etc.

Keith, local government are not employers.
Employers are people who need to be held accountable for their recruitment policies and how they treat workers.
The minimum wage policy with the right to lay off at a word's notice is bad enough, but the idea of discriminating against British people is something that does not bypass local government's responsibility.
Many district councils have been closing two eyes to this, when they should be speaking up and campaigning against discrimination against British job-seekers.

A number of issues here;
1; ALEXANDER; D.D.C. are employers
2; There is a union at D.D.C. whether they are strong or not is differing
in how you look at things
