This whole story has just thrown me Howard.
What about this line from The Guardian:
"The benches, which are made of seven curved strips of metal to blend in with the shape of the waves, do not have a back or armrest so that shoppers only sit on them for a few minutes."
Curved strips of metal to blend in with the waves...what does this even mean?
I suppose they are painted blue to 'blend in' with the sky.
Perhaps the workmanship and poor use of concrete (highlighted in post 78) is to ensure that the benches 'blend in' with Burlington House?
