  Yes Jan the one in Dover Castle will be lit and apparently shown on the Big Screen

  Looking forward to seeing the South Foreland lighthouse switching its light back on again tonight.
  
  Needless to say, it will be the brightest of all the Jubilee beacons.

  I had a stab at getting a picture of the lighted beacon last night but it was pitch dark. Not terribly good but here we are... a rare sight indeed.

  Oh well done for trying PaulB. Would love to have seen it myself. Maybe there will be some photos of the various beacons around on the news sites a bit later.

  Good try Ed you can do no more than have a stab at it as very tricky photographic conditions...quite an unusual sight and must have been from out at sea as shown. Would love to see it lighting more often. My pic very grainy as I turned up the ISO dial to max, not that it made much of a difference.

  Yes was at the castle along with the Mayor and a small group of people, our beacon was light at one minute past ten precisely but dark so very difficult to get clear pictures, but good stuff those who tried,
  Agree the Lighthouse picture Andy is excellent.

  Is there some sort of statue being placed up on the cliffs at the moment. Someone I know said they saw something around there from their boat? East of st.margrets?
