On a completely different tack - there are some beautiful things inside the Beacon church and belonging to it. There is, included amongst this, a war memorial - the "Good Shepherd" window is dedicated to those in the armed forces from Buckland and from the church who lost their lives during the two world wars. Do we know what is being done to preserve the memorial and the other historical artefacts?
As interest, the church itself is a war casualty - it used to extend to the boundary with London Road but this part of the church was destroyed in WWII raids. I wonder if, should the land be redeveloped, some plaque will be placed in the buildings to record the history of the site.
