Different people may have different views on the Christian Faith, mine is that the Church does not have a mission to close down the Church, but to preach the Word of Christ and to uphold the Church.

That said, we should also take into account that there are different Church denominations, or organisations.
Some people seem to have had an unhappy experience with the Church. I don't know which one Howard went to, and perhaps Keith, if I recall, went to a Catholic school.

Personally I had a very positive experience of Christian Faith at school, which was not Catholic but Army school in North Camp near Farnborough, and later St. Mary's in Dover.

While believing church buildings should be preserved, I do dedicate my attention to the preservation of the English Church and the British Celtic Churches.
As the Church In High is the Light Tower Church at the Castle, I contribute to its upkeep by being a member of English Heritage and leaving donations at the Church and promoting its vital importance in whichever way I can.

As said, the Mission of a Church is to uphold the Holy Scriptures and not to be silenced off or intimidated, and to insist that the Word be taught to children, including at school.
Anything less than this would be reneging the Church Mission.

I suppose the C/E is between a rock and a hard place because it claims the house of Windsor as its head and dabbles about with questionable teachings of dubious morale.
I suppose it should be the queen defending the C/E, but doubt she cares other than for her palaces and estates.
