Well not really but yesterday we went to the 60th Battle of Flowers parade and carnival. Although the weather was overcast the island was full with hardly a bedroom free in any hotel or guest house.Marching proudly was a band from Herne Bay.
Just thought I'd post these photo's after the doom and gloom of the last few days.

Fabulous Marek - thanks for the photos.
I had to work in Jersey twice some years ago when I worked for NatWest Bank; best 6 months (2, 3 month periods) out of 24 years.
The second 3 month period was in the summer during August and I had to work solid so missed the Battle of the Flowers; always promised myself I'd go back for it, but never have.

Wow! some floats there Marek. Truly stunning. Quite expensive to do those I expect but what a result. The idea being to attract visitors Im sure and I bet it works too.

Not practical I know but wouldn't it be great if we had something like that in Dover, lovely pictures Marek

Surely the Garden of England could do similar.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. The place was heaving. It would be great to see Miss Dover and her Court over here in the parade. I may even be able to persuade my kid brother (theTory) to drive them around the event in his new convertable Aston Martin (spits with jealousy)

These are absolutely stunning, Marek. It must produce a feel goof factor for the islanders too.
Perhaps the people who sort Dover's flower tubs out could organise a similar event here? I am sure it wouldn't take long to arrange a dandelion, a tuft of grass, a beer can and a dozen fag ends into something that would wow the crowds.
