On my way home yesterday around 11pm there were fire engines, police hurling up London Road with sirens, which I thought was strange - However it appears that Barwicks up Coombe Valley Road was ablaze.
I do hope that it there was no-one injured, not sure of any further details as it does not appear on the news just yet.
Devasting for the business, and for all those who work there

I got told ten fire engines were there by a gd cllr friend of mine, more worrying for the people who live up here as its next to the gas pump!!!!!

Apart from a largish group of children seen playing there earlier, it is supposed to be.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

I think your right Terry - I didn't realise, I pass that nearly every week too and never noticed it before - I drove past yesterday afternoon it is a total shell, and it is actually up for sale,
Guess it will not be worth rebuilding so they just might just knock it all down, and be replaced by housing I suppose?

Is there a development planned for that area?

The site does already have planning permission for housing so the fire will make little difference to its sale potential. If anything it could make it more desirable as half the demolition has now been done.
