  Marek - you are assuming that id cards will themselves not be faked and will offer greater security. Personally I doubt it very much and indeed they could increase risks of abuse. I remember when we were told that changing to credit card pin machines instead of signatures would prevent cc crime, how wrong they were!
  
  The truth is the id cards are likely to be a hugely expensive mistake that the country cannot afford. that is why they must be scrapped.
