Reports coming in of 13 people being killed by a terrorist attack using a van to drive into pedestrians. Anyone who has visited the city will know that Las Ramblas is packed with people all year round but in August everyone is shoulder to shoulder so no chance of anyone dancing out of the way if a nut case decides to drive into them.

For those not up to speed with events in Barcelona and other Spanish hot spots the above photo refers to what used to be flats/apartments for locals are now holiday lets which is much more lucrative for landlords. Majorca also is buckling under the strain of too many tourists.

By all accounts there were three suspects, two now under arrest and one dead after a shoot out with police. The Spanish authorities have done well here but no doubt they were on a watch list.

And after a quiet month in September ( 'Only' 806 people were killed and 683 injured
http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/attacks/attacks.aspx?Yr=Last30 ) those proselyting for that well known Religion of Peace (sic) turn their outreach to Marseilles!
According to Reuters, three police sources said the suspect had shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) as he carried out his attack at Marseille's main railway station.
Two victims - one aged 17 and the other 20 - suffered gory injuries, two police sources said, saying one had her throat slit while the other was stabbed in the stomach.

Saw the thread title and assumed it referred to the disgusting events in that City today and on previous days. Town Mayors have been thrown into prisons for backing the referendum and riot police beating and using rubber bullets on people trying to vote. The Generalissimo would have proud of Spain's democracy.

With reference to Catalonia it's that old cliche Howard - 'If voting made any difference they wouldn't allow you to do it'.
Meanwhile on the 'terror' front it's kicking off in Canada now:-
