A highly critical report into the moral standards of bankers has been suppressed by St Paul's Cathedral amid fears that it would inflame tensions over the Occupy London tent protest.
The report, based on a survey of 500 City workers who were asked whether they thought they were worth their lucrative salaries and bonuses, was due to be published last Thursday, the day that the Canon Chancellor of St Paul's, Giles Fraser, resigned in protest at the church's tough stance.
But publication of the report, by the St Paul's Institute, has been delayed in an apparent acknowledgement that it would leave the impression that the cathedral was on the side of the protesters.

Yes I heard about this on the radio. The whole thing looks odd, but as someone pointed out during the week St Pauls were losing £20,000 pounds a day when closed. If thats not an incentive for said church to move the tented village on then I dont know what is. Any sign of encouragement would not bode well in the coffers department.
A great pity though the report was suppressed...there is no doubt that so many are paid way beyond their worth. Even several city hi-flyers have said as much on TV. There are plenty of talented people that can do these jobs..they are not all that as rare as you might think, or as they would like you to think.
The Church should have gone for it.

its rather a strange turn out
there is a bigger issue of peoples right to protest whatever that may be about.
but the church split not coming out of this very well
ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS
No-one appears to have questioned what the "protesters" hope to achieve by shutting a cathedral.

they say have followed all directives from the cathedral authorities in order to keep the church open, says rather a lot about our society that the authorities ensure that the stock exchange is unaffected but a place of worship is not considered important enough.

From the little I have heard of this;the alternative 'venue' for the protest is private land (Japanese owned) the protesters were invited onto cathedral grounds and until mid-week their inviter was still in post.
You will, no doubt, recall what used to be said of the CoE? "The Tory Party at prayer."

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.
