According to the experts, there are always experts, and yes here they are popping up again telling us on the radio and on TV that this policy works. Raise the price and Joe Binge cant afford to stock up his booze laden larder at home, therefore will go out and have a nice quiet pint in the pub instead. Then because the costs are so high in pubs, the aforementioned Joe Binge will only be able to afford one pint instead of the previously quoffed 12 cans at home.

Chance will be a fine thing..as we used to say.
But one lives in hope that the blight of binge drinking can be sorted...I dont think it will be this easy though.

Then on the other hand, the quiet geezer at home will pay 40% more for his friday night bottle of Sauvignan Blanc and therefore will be penalised for doing no harm to anyone. He or indeed she pays the price for the yobbery. Ever upward goes the price of everything.

The EU legal aspect is another matter...will be interesting to see how it develops.
