Forgive me for these observations which may seem to show my naivety:

    1. The word bovine refers to cattle not badgers. Bovine TB is therefore a disease of cattle not badgers.
    2. A vaccine is available for the disease.
    3. Even if badgers do carry the disease, if a vaccination programme (of cattle, not badgers) were started now, it would eliminate the disease in cattle within one generation (3 years for beef, 7 for dairy cattle).
    4. Culling badgers will reduce the threat of transmission but not eliminate it.
