Hi Neil - I remain open-minded, but was certainly not taken by the manner in which the issue was debated. I have expressed these concerns on the forum before, and was disappointed to see that such themes were repeated yesterday. There is certainly now pressure on those advocating alternative proposals, and indeed the Government, to put some real "meat on the bones" of their business models. There are many examples of private equity bringing increased investment in transport infrastructure. One only has to look at Gatwick Airport and the massive investment seen there since GIP took over with backing from pension and sovereign wealth funds. By the tone of some yesterday, Dover is slamming the door in the face of the very investors we need to attract.
