radio kent done a feature on litter asking the worst places in kent ---- and dover got a slating
the main routes a2 and a20 main route europe to olypmics and jubilee
all members of the forum brought this up about 2 months ago ----- nothing done
the editor of dover express used litter in his piece --------------------nothing done
the reason for litter is mostly lorry drivers and one word tachographs
they have to stop and find a lay-by ( perhaps now is time for us to close the lay- bys on a2 and a20 )
my answer is to get any one caught drink driving or will no insurance after the fine to have 2 nights litter picking we have said it over 2/3 years answer ------------------------ nothing done
so only one answer is to get the local mp , if he cares about his town get it sorted
in westminster have heard that even if you drop a cigarette butt , could be £`100 fine
so nice and tidy up the office !!!!!

I am not certain but believe that the Highways Agency is the responsible body on those main arterial routes and Charlie could/should apply pressure on them.

These tachographs could be part of any solution, if they were collected and researched, the perfect/optimum stopping places could then be found.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

this subject has been raised on here in the past as ron say's, nothing much the town and sistricr councils to do it is up to charlie and our county councillors to get together and get the situation sorted.
we cannot afford further embarassment when people pass through on their way to the olympics.

I don't think it is a KCC issues, Howard - these major arteries are, I am pretty sure though not certain, Highway Agency, part of the Transport Ministry.

If was not for the efficiently of the cleaning of the seafront it would be the same. Late at night I always see McDonald's or KFC wrappers laying just next to parking lines. People park up and simple leave it outside their car doors rather than walking 3 meters to a bin, just ignorant. The seagulls seem to like it though!

Not in any way surprised. Travelling abroad makes one realise that increasingly the UK is a nation content with leaving its litter all over the place. Any sense of civic pride has long gone. We can't point the finger at others until we get our own house in order.

I agree with that Kevin, although I would say that we can do both at the same time.
We need to fine people for dropping litter - it seems the only way is to hit people in their pockets, education doesn't seem to work.
Once again, ZERO tolerance is what is required - on our road-sides, whether Motorways, trunk-roads or local roads.
Emailing Kent Highways (kent.highwayservices@kent.gov.uk) is worthwhile because they will pass it on the the Highways Agency.

i am pretty certain that nobody has been fined or prosecuted in dover for dropping litter.
lay-bys we have to have, cars breakdown and people get tired or feel unwell.
