13:4887882On returning to our house in Eythorne mid-morning today we discovered that some lowlife had tried to burgle the house sometime during the last 3 days. Nothing taken as they failed to gain full access but two sets of patio doors damaged, one so it can't be opened at all, the other so it can't be secured properly PR opened fully either. And for some strange reason the BBQ had been wheeled from one side of the garden to the other.
Half an hour on the phone to the police, another 20 minutes on the phone to Direct Line, hopefully the SOCO will attend this afternoon so that we can get the damage repaired.
PG.

14:1087886sounds a rather amateurish effort, no consolation to the victims though.

14:3387893Not a nice thing at all Peter from someone who`s experienced it. 30 years ago this year our first house, and 4 years later stole our first car. The only time I wished c...er on other humans and that still stands. Such is the hate I have for this form of life.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

16:4687905Always an unfortunate and unhappy experience. Fortunately they didnt get inside which is the real consolation here in this case Peter. But a very disturbing feeling certainly.
According to Kent Police this type of crime is decreasing. Their target this year was to reduce criminal damage offences by 10%..they reached this target. This according to Policing Kent which has just dropped through local letterboxes.
Probably not much of a consolation to know this alas.

19:1387944Really sorry to hear that Peter; we know it can and is sickening when it happens.
Hope everything can be repaired quickly and if possible made more secure.
We had a burglar alarm fitted afterwards - a good one too and not too expensive, it also rings your mobile if it goes off, so quite clever.

21:1687958Peter - your title for this thread sums it up. Sorry you had to endure that - I hope they catch them and bang them up. Literally.

11:138800511 out of 10 for Kent Police. On my initial phone call I gave huge amounts of information and I was promised a call back by the crime investigation team within 4 hours. Surprise- they called after 2 1/2 hours and made sn appointment to visit the crime scene at 2.45. By 4pm they had done their forensics- no fingerprints but good jemmy marks on the door frames from which they took imprints- and gone. Before they went they told us they had arrested an old lag on Monday night/ Tuesday morning in Whitfield. His van was loaded with swag from a string burglaries earlier that night in both Eastry and Whitfield. The MO was the same in all the burglaries and burglary 'tools' were recovered, as he was caught red-handed.
Also by 4pm Direct Line's door and window contractor had secured the property and measured up for 2 new sets of patio doors and a new side gate, which had been broken in the attempt.
