I successfully petitioned for extra parking at Aycliffe over 6 years ago.
I e-mailed DCC for any progress and this is what i get back
"I was not around six years ago but understand the issues you have concerning Aycliffe which are very similar to many which permeate throughout the District. As a consequence we will be conducting a Parking Strategy review this year.
As part of that exercise we will include Aycliffe within this review and explore the options we have for availability of parking for residents within your area."
Not impressed that we need to be included with a another review considering I successfully petitioned DCC for this and we did a walk around and identified areas for extra parking. which was also costed.
DCC strike again.
another e-mail will be needed with my views on the subject

Best of luck Gary.
The problem is that traffic engineering (planning and designing systems for moving people and goods safely and efficiently) is a real science and not something that can be easily solved through 'consultation' and a few drawings on the back of a fag packet at Whitfield.
As for a 'Parking Strategy review' I can only say come back whoever you are at DDC when you've read The High Cost of Free Parking as I have.

Until then I suspect you do not know of what you speak.

Actually the sites were not decided on a back of a fag package. We all agreed with drawings what could be done. it is not about moving goods but parking for residents
Therefore I have to disagree with you because you do not know how far we got.
All sites agreed by with me and DDC were good solutions to increase parking at Aycliffe.
Aycliffe is the lucky position of being able to absorb more parking spaces
I would also point out I am no scientist but researched the areas for where extra parking could go.

Excellent news and best of luck. The problems come when all the available spaces are full (like where I am in Deal) and how you keep everyone happy without resorting to residents parking permits or introduction of one-way systems so people can park either side of the road- the usual quick fix.

“Much of what you have advised took place three years before I became a councillor so I was not aware of the actions which took place in 2017. I have therefore requested Parking Services to look further into this case and either they or I will provide you with a more substantive response once they have completed their review.”
This is lastest E-mail from DDC.
I am going to have to reply again and point we do not need to be included in any parking review due to my petition. Also very poor that the previous holder of the post at DDC did not past on anything about the petition.

I presume the green on st Patrick's and across the junction on other side of st David's are the most suitable places, Is it time that residents just started parking on them and try to force the issue. Maybe mark some parking bays with line paint, at the very least I bet they start talking to the residents fairly soon after.

The green on the junction was identified was a site. We tried not to use the any of the green spaces if possible.. But you never know one day…

My latest e-mail I have sent to DCC
" I do hope there is an investigation into why it has taken this long and why is was not passed on to you.
I hope there is progress this month. If there is no progress this month I am afraid I will have to put
A complaint about lack of progress etc.. Not against you as you did not have any knowledge about the petition.
It concerns me that the in the last few years that the Fast track bus service has been passed and progressing, the Stembrook site has progressed, and the customs clearance site has progress. That is to name a few.
But nothing has even been started at Aycliffe.. We are the forgotten estate again.
I do hope you can see why I am frustrated"

The lastest reply from DDC
“Indeed. I have looked at plans done previously and at each proposal. Officers have been asked to cost a selection and I am waiting on that. I wonder how people will feel about losing green areas but some of the sites look poor value for the number of cars so have asked for cost per space as well. Budgets are on short supply though so there won’t be a massive expenditure, but every position will be useful.”
I am a little annoyed this because if it was completed at the time it would of been cheaper..
The site we all propose from the one suggests did not lose much green spaces. It was also costed at the time.
So yet another excuse not assist Aycliffe and yet they spend 2 1/2 million on a fast track to Whitfield losing valuable green spaces..
Could not make it up
