I have to disagree with you Keith - the Conservative have nothing to worry about here if you look at the history of Dover's KCC seats. Relative to that we did well with this result. Naturally it would have been good to hang on to the seat.
I actually disagree with Roger as well because I do not think that normal rules applied. I suspect that the 'protest vote' went to UKIP. There is always a part of the electorate who avoid the difficult decisions but feel they should vote and tend to vote normally LD. Given LDs are now in government it would be logical for that protest vote to go to UKIP. No doubt that some LDs went Labour as well to give them a boost.
Howard - the Forum had no effect at all.... strange interpretation of the result I have to say.
