Gordon Cowan has won the Kent County Council seat for Labour, the election was called owing to the death of Cllr Roger Frayne(con) and was a snap election before the vat and savage cuts take effect in the New Year, the election could have been called upto May but the ruling group decided to go early and got a bloody nose.
In a very poor turn out(which normally hits Labour Candidates) due to the time of year and the dreadful weather conditions and saw only 3400 vote.

Barry has given the result and the per centages.
The result was a turnround of nearly 1000 votes as the Conservatives lead of 800 went red by 140,UKIP finished 3rd for the first time and the Liberal vote slumped.

Clllr Cowan told me last night, the only reason why the election was called so quickly is because the Tories knew it was their only chance before the job and services cuts and vat rises came in,he thanked his supporters and his election team.
