There has been much chatter as to whether these events are of much value any longer, however they are still officially going ahead as you can see. The last one I attended at St Mary's Parish Church Hall was certainly well attended by officialdom, ie the various bodies taking part, but was sparsely attended by Joe Public.
It would be nice to know if all this consultation over the past several years has achieved any kind of advancement.

It would be interesting to know if the St Margarets meeting has more public interest than the others. It is the only one held during the day which is more convenient for those with young children and the elderly.

Yes would be interesting to see Jan if that happens - although previously several peeps have said the opposite, like if its held while people are working they all cant go..so who knows whats best in the end.

I like to consider myself a reasonably well informed person yet I have absolutely no idea what a Neighbourhood Forum is and, despite being community minded, I don't have any real interest in finding out. It sounds like a mechanism whereby someone can say "we are listening to the views of our locals" and then carry on in their own sweet way.
Am I just being cynical?

the one i attended was exactly like that mark.
the same applies to most of these things, the health authority ones i find are the most stage managed.

These particular dates are vita;;y important for local community organisations that have applied for grants as it is where you get to present your proposal
For others it is a great opportunity to see what is going on in your neighbourhood

You dont sound cynical to me Mark , just aware of how some systems work .
What is the remit of these forums ?

Sarah I dont have any further details but the "You Decide" thing seems to give the clue. Thats new...I think its new anyway otherwise I have been asleep at the back.
Its the Big Brother voice thing saying...you decide. So I guess it must be a you decide what you want to talk about, presumably beforehand, otherwise how are they to have the right bods there to talk through the problems. But Im just guessing.

they usually send officers that can cover most points raised, i don't think that the public set the agenda though.

The agenda is set by the grant applications received
Every body that submits an application needs to present it to the meeting and the attendees then get to vote on the applications
So it really is "you decide"
