Do you know what the Alternative Vote referendum is all about?
Watch this extract of this classic comedy to learn exactly what it would mean for you....

I can think of no better way for people uninterested in politics to find out about AV. You can have a laugh as well......

I've just read Rhys's interpretation and it just shows, like the teacher in the broadcast, you shouldn't try to explain it unlees you're on the same brain level as Stephen Hawking.

The changes proposed by the referendum have been considered beneficial by most parties. I am in favour of an election change.
Preferences will mean that many Tory voters can put UKIP as second party, or even vice-versa.
It will probably facilitate a Tory-UKIP allieance in Parliament at the next General Election.

I didn't know about this connection until now, just read about it on Guido Fawkes -
"Electoral Reform Services Ltd is administering ballots (for the AV referendum vote). The group will be both printing ballot papers and observing their return. They will be able to see who has voted by post before the polls close and thus know who to target to get out the vote on polling day. Which is all rather convenient."
Electoral Reform Services Ltd are a subsidiary of the Electoral Reform Society - which is the biggest donor to the Yes2AV campaign.

Any minor party will want AV, but I think it's nuts. You vote for someone, you want that person to win, not someone else.
First Past The Post has to be best, makes so much more sense and much less complicated too.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

most of the leading lights in the "no to av" campaign are blue supporters or donors.
about 200 red m.p's are signed up, look like the establishment are closing ranks.

Actually no Howard - there are equally a lot of Labour grandees signed up from the start too.
This is no 'establishment closing ranks' but common sense supporting one man one vote.

barry
the chairperson, head of press. finance director, co-treasurer and national organiser are all blue supporters or donors.
a brief look at the financing shows that much the same people who help finance the blues are financing this campaign.
for example
baron sainsbury £100,000
lord harris £.75,000
michael farmer £100,000
lord fink £.27,000
the reds go along quietly with this as the no campaign will benefit them too.
the end result of the current system is that a party can govern on their own with nearly two thirds of votes are cast against them.

Howard - Margaret Beckett, Austin Mitchell and Gerald Kaufman were among the many Labour backers of the campaign at launch.
So, you think Dennis Skinner would be happy to support some kind of 'Tory front' - come off it.
You have been reading too much Yes spin in the Independent.
