The post you are reporting:
Interesting point PaulB but rather proves a point. From your earliest days you are subjected to religion in both subtle and blatant forms. Religious parents will, as a matter of course, include religious themes in the normal day to day activities. Schools, even state schools, blanket the young minds with religion at an age when children are most susceptable to suggestion. Two and two is four, the battle of Hastings was fought in 1066 and Jesus was the son of god, all presented by authority figures with nothing to differenciate between fact and belief. I know of schools that use hymns and prayers as 'convenient' class breaks. Sunday school and even groups such as the cubs and girl scouts regularly include church parades and prayers as part of their activities. In later life those who consider themselves in anyway religious will pepper their language with religious references such as, "I thanked god for such a nice day". Even the most mundane postings on forums include name checks for god almost as a matter of course.
Being religious in our world is easy and requires almost no thought, it is all there for you and spoon fed on a continuous basis. To realise that you are an Atheist requires thought and continuous questioning, although, as has been demonstrated time and again, the questions you answer tend to be the same ones over and over again.
To use a cliche, at the end of the day all religions are concerned with death, dying and what to do to prepare for and ensure ease once you have died whereas Atheists are concerned with life and how to live it, knowing that once dead your body lives on as fertiliser for the next generation.
Anywat, as the Pope's recent remarks prove, the religious are still very much obsessed with those they cannot convert.
