    In my day (yes, I am very old), the landlord, or a friend, was more than able to put an end, even temporarily, to the drinking career of any miscreants. My old haunts in Kilburn and Willesden had little proper (visible) trouble, and were well able to manage the events that did crop up. And they had long memories and a wealth of local (and otherwise) contacts.............ASBOs would have had little effect then, and I suspect they will have little now. You have to speak to people in their own language!!!!
