11:4828212I think any new scheme that will curb unruly behaviour must be givren a chance, it works in other towns.
You get a yellow csrd firsr
and the second time you are banned from all the pubs
sounds good to me
wonder what others think

12:0628215Frankly I think the idea is lame in the extreme. Anyone who thinks for one second that it will prevent drunken yobs from ruling the town is naive to the point of lunacy. ASBOs are no real threat against unruly behaviour and any reports that they are successful are based on the pathetic use of the ASBO against, say, an old granny who left rubbish in her front garden for too long rather than a genuine menace to society.
You are not going to change drunken youth culture with this hopeless attempt at "being seen to do something". It's akin to trying to stop a charging bull with a feather.

13:0328216Totally ineffective, thelandlord of the pub doesn't know whether somebody has an ASBO and the police will only get involved if the ASBO holder causes a disturbance. Most licensees are reluctant to call the police in case it reflects upon them relying on the more traditional method of chucking somebody out. The latter is the most effective especially if you have a step leading in to the pub that they'accidntally' trip over.

13:3628217The more ASBO's you have the better your street cred is however we have to do something.
My suggestion is first time your caught dnd You spend the night in the chokey plus a heavy fine and your mobile phone is confiscated plus barred from town centre after 7pm.
Second time found dnd you get 2 nights at Her Majestys Pleasure, a heavier fine ,your new mobile and designer trainers are confiscated plus barred from town centre after 5 pm and your photo goes in the T'Express and Mercury.
If your daft enough to get caught a third time you spend 3 months in chokey without a trial oh and all the above..

I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)

13:5028218In my day (yes, I am very old), the landlord, or a friend, was more than able to put an end, even temporarily, to the drinking career of any miscreants. My old haunts in Kilburn and Willesden had little proper (visible) trouble, and were well able to manage the events that did crop up. And they had long memories and a wealth of local (and otherwise) contacts.............ASBOs would have had little effect then, and I suspect they will have little now. You have to speak to people in their own language!!!!

14:1928224How right you are Bern, one of my pubs was in a not so nice area of N. London only had the occasional problem and that was promptly dealt with in a manner the police would not have approved of. However we did save them a lot of paperwork for which they were grateful.

15:1728226an allternative to an asbo would be done by bouncers.by inventing a new pub sport called bounce the drunk, the bouncer who bounced the drunk the furthest gets a cash award at the end of the month, just to encourage this sport there has to be an award system simuler to the brits/mobos.
