    McDonalds never moved, the Whitfield branch was open for years in conjunction with the town branch.
    Don't know if its true or not true, but the dover franchise owner wanted to give it up but could not find anyone to buy it so closed, I also heard that McDonalds pulled the branch from them , for running it badly! So takes your pick.
