  Some of you will have seen the story that broke today on this. A Tory Councillor, not local, from Birmingham in fact, made a fairly nasty remark on Twitter about stoning a muslim woman to death, and he has been arrested and charged. He said it was an attempt at humour, but of course.. nobody 's laughing.
  
  A number of people recently have been arrested for the content of their internet comments...so there is a lesson here for all of us. That old 'free speech' chestnut doesnt hold up if you pass the bounds of decency and responsibility in certain areas. Nor does the notion that you were making a joke.
  
  It is no secret, this forum is monitored, and we have spoken about this before over the years and it has in fact been monitored for content for a number of years...and I heard this directly. So it is up to every individual to be aware that laws that previously may have slept for years un-noticed on the statute book, have found new feet in the modern age.
  
  The responsibility is always with the individual that makes the comment.
  So, an interesting development today that everyone should be aware of.
