Trafalgar Day seems an outdated concept, celebrating war. A national day/holiday on November 11th however would commemorate those lives sacrificed in all conflicts since the First World War in the hope that, through remembrance, political rather than militaristic action might take hold in the future. In that way we could truly say that we are honouring the dead.

I think marking the 11th itself is the significance of this though when it falls on a weekend the weekday nearest could be called.
