  don't know what it is like elsewhere locally but where i am it is like a passage from the book of revelations.
  
  thunder, lightning, half expecting a plague of locusts any minute, the only consolation is that our new friend the false widow will be suffering.

  Judging by the abundance of berries and nuts this year at least our wildlife have a good chance of surviving a harsh winter.
  My dog spent the evening hiding under the sofa, I'm dreading firework season.

  One heck of a storm last night.The rain monsooned and roared onto my my meagre roof here on the top floor. And the flashing all about, well I dunno....and they say this kind of thing is going to get worse. I'm under the sofa with the dog Lesley
  
  Look at this pic which was sent in to me a few years back and I think it was by Ray Goodfellow,...who bravely stuck his camera to the window. Well done Ray..hope all good if you're out there looking in.
  

  

  
  
  Look how wide and large that flash is...that one would fry yer brains for sure.
  Ive tried several times myself to get lightning pix but so far without success.

  The secret to getting lightning photos is easier then you may at first think. Don't try to catch it - ie fast shutter speeds etc, rather go slow, use a low ISO (or ASA if prefered) say 100 or 200, go to SP on your control dial (Shutter Prioity), select a shutter speed of 2,3 or more seconds, mount on a tripod or something similer, get as close to the window glass as you can and turn the room light off.
  Open the shutter and wait for the lightning to appear. You will take a lot of exposures but one or two will work.........with luck!

  Great tips there Phil, thanks for those. I have been trying the.."fast shutter speed trying to catch it" approach.
  Didnt work for me at all

  I'm a wuss when it thunders accompanied by that kind of crashing lightening, under the sofa for sure but I do love the wonderful skies after such storms. I saw that too Kath, gazed at it for ages, great to see your photo above
