Michael Cremo? Oh no - I saw him talk once. He was actually trying to convince the audience that a fossil 'footprint' he showed from the Cambrian era was of a human. He was unable to explain how a human could have breathed or what he could eat, unless a permanent jellyfish and prawn diet takes your fancy.
He even tried to convince us that the government censors archaeological finds that are out-of-place so we do not question the accepted order of things. Oddly when I was employed as an archaeologist for years in the 90s not once do I recall a shadowy USAF Colonel in dark glasses rooting around our finds tray. "You did not see this sherd of pot." Yep, right.
To me the man is as bad as Graham Hancock or Erik von Daniken, they do a great disservice to science whilst raking in the cash. At least Daniken later had the decency to admit that he made most of it up whilst lounging on his yacht.
Anyway, back on topic. These fossils are incredibly recent - how amazing to think they could have been the last descendants of an early out-of-Africa migration and co-existing with modern humans.
By the way, no-one is stating that we came from China from these discoveries. They are not proposed as directly ancestral to modern humans, just another twig on the branch with a very deep root.
