Michael Gove in Parliament yesterday made a full and frank apology to the Commons over a inaccurate list of cancelled school building projects. (a welcome contrast to Labour Ministers evasion and failure to take responssibility)
This does, however raise a question or two.
This list was provided by a QUANGO, Partnership for Schools, who have incompetently overseen Balls school building programme with its design faults and cost overruns. Michael Gove has taken a lead in getting shot of such QUANGOs and has many more in his sights. So the question arises, was he set up? It would not surprise me.
It is also know that Liam Fox in the MoD is out to get rid of pen pushers rather than troops and is under fierce attack from the department civil servants.
There will, I am sure be more of this, but the government must stick to its guns, get rid of layers of useless beaurocracy and minimise the impact on front line services.
The Civil Servants will fight dirty.
