Michael Gove in Parliament yesterday made a full and frank apology to the Commons over a inaccurate list of cancelled school building projects. (a welcome contrast to Labour Ministers evasion and failure to take responssibility)
This does, however raise a question or two.
This list was provided by a QUANGO, Partnership for Schools, who have incompetently overseen Balls school building programme with its design faults and cost overruns. Michael Gove has taken a lead in getting shot of such QUANGOs and has many more in his sights. So the question arises, was he set up? It would not surprise me.
It is also know that Liam Fox in the MoD is out to get rid of pen pushers rather than troops and is under fierce attack from the department civil servants.
There will, I am sure be more of this, but the government must stick to its guns, get rid of layers of useless beaurocracy and minimise the impact on front line services.
The Civil Servants will fight dirty.

top cicil servants are a formidable enemy, not one defeated easily, they will fight just as hard to protect their empires as the government in turn will fight to decimate them.
interesting you mention front line services barry, the royal college of nursing claims there will be a cull of nurses despite the ringfenced health spending.
nothing much more front line than that.
An article in The Telegraph today indicates that civil servants are braced for the cuts, and despite that welcomed the new incumbents as a welcome contrast to the last lot................somehow it rings true.

Isn't it the civil servants who are really running things (well, most things. Obviously they didn't decide to cut their own jobs)
