Interesting comments from our Archbishop; all the more interesting in that they are so political. I have never rated Rowan Williams. He is clearly an intellectual but seemed to me to be shirking from speaking out for the vulnerable which I would think is solid, church territory. That seem to be changing and the Archbishop has gone up in my estimation as a result.
Oddly, Downing Street said that the government was "elected" to tackle the economic crisis that the country faces. Do they now believe that they were elected?!! I don't recall a coalition option on my ballot form! Is this further evidence of the self-delusion at the top of the 'greasy pole'?

Not getting governments you voted for is quite normal on the continent. We are just not used to getting an indecisive result that require a coatition in order to get a stable government.
I didnt vote for a coalition and would much have preferred an outright Conservative win that would have seen the end the Human Rights Act and a tougher line on the EU. However that is not the case and an important job is to be done to get the economy working again and cleary those who created the problem in the Labour Party are daily demonstrating their unfitness for that job. So it falls to a coalition to work for a few more years more. Not ideal but the one left to us by the electorate.
As for the ArchBish - he is just a daft old hippy, best ignored.

BARRYW
Is there anyone out there outsideof the conservative party that at some point you would say, well they have a point.
All this only i know best from you, is tragic, as you do have some good debating posting, but your continured slurs on anyone who disagree's with you does you no justice, and realy deflates your debate, which is sad.
Never mind, everyone to there own i suppose

Can't agree that he's obviously intelligent, it's just his accent makes him seem that way.
And many in the C of E would prefer him to start standing up for their beliefs more rather than getting into politics.
