  you have no doubt heard that above mentioned man of the cloth has hung up his cassock today at the age of 79.
  
  nobel prize winner, champion of the oppressed masses in apartheid era south africa and many other good egg sort of stuff, most famous of all for his contribution to the language used by lovers of the beautiful game.
  
  any game of football that ends in a 2 - 2 draw is automatically referred to as a desmond.

  Saw him in real life at a clerical installation in Canterbury Cathedral some years ago.
  
  The usual church big wigs and royalty present but he was the one who turned the congregations heads.
  
  Set them buzzing.

  We were delighted to meet Archbishop Desmond last summer at a friend's wedding anniversary, when he visited E. Kent with his wife, Leah. He also took part in their anniversary service in Eastry Church, a wonderful service. What a kind, caring man, who has achieved so much in his working life, nothing I could say would do him justice. The more I hear about him the more I admire our 'modern day saint'
