I wish the tip would go back to normal again instead of having to keep making appointments but i had heard from someone that works there that this is how it will always be from now on.

Recent exchange at TIP:
WGS: 'How long do you think this'll go on for?'
Worker: 'Forever, mate. Council love it.'

Seems a sensible arrangement.I expect with the old system Monday’s could be busier than say Wednesday .Least this way you can judge how many will be visiting the tip.Like the Doctors you have to have appointment systems or indeed the .hairdressers.

Appointments are ok but was so much better when you could just call in,seemed to work well as it was.A friend of ours on Veolia said there is much more fly tipping since the appointment system came in.You only have to drive through the country lanes to see how worse things have got.

Surely there were more queues on the old system .Sometime right past the roundabout.

I suspect Andy B is correct. If fewer cars are being dealt with at the tip more are going to be tempted to fly tip, especially in a time of pandemic when half the world seems to be into DIY.
No doubt DDC will be able to provide and up to date analysis of usage at the tip?
(What? You mean they don't even know how many vehicles are using it daily?

a good case for fly tipping, who wants to stinky rubbish in the back yard, which encourags rats and seagulls.,

Tip is KCC.
But I understand DDC have their brains working on a similar domestic rubbish booking system right now.

Not so, in my experience. Unless you are first, there is now always a queue, as you're forced to wait while you're allocated a space. Queues were guaranteed when KCC introduced 'vehicular distancing' and improvised new yellow boxes to prevent cars from hugging each other, thus cutting the number of vehicles allowed on site at any one time to, I'd say, about 14 or 15.

My daughter who does our tip runs is quite happy if the booking system stays as it should stop the long wait while the various containers are moved or whatever else creates those long queues.
The impatient and disorganised will still grumble, those who only think of themselves will continue to fly tip unless caught and severely punished.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

The booking system can have absolutely no bearing on container movement, as even the oversized minds at KCC cannot predict when one of the containers will fill up and need to be substituted.

Roll on next bank holiday weekend when every man and his dog has been inspired to do some work in the garden and there is only a small number of slots at the tip.
I suspect KCC are going to be very happy with the new system as they are going to be able to out do most other local authorities with the outstanding level of recycling they have achieved.
I also understand they have not had to employ any of the casual staff that always covered weekends and bank holidays for over a year now!
